Now and Always: Pledging to Fight Anti-Asian Racism, Misogyny and White Supremacy
Dear Burhan,
Our hearts are with the 8 victims murdered in Atlanta on March 16th. We stand with the Asian American community and vow to continue fighting against a dominant culture of white supremacy, misogyny, racism and colonialism as part of the struggle for collective liberation!
No Justice for Palestinians Without Water Justice!
![]()
There are so many important aspects of the Palestinian liberation struggle, and water justice is one of them. To name but one example: according to the Alliance for Water Justice in Palestine, "depriving Palestinians of water plays an essential role in Israel's ethnic cleansing of parts of the 62% of the West Bank classified as Area C by the Oslo Accords."
That's why we're asking you to tune in on Monday, March 22nd, 7 to 8:30pm ET for the Alliance for Water Justice in Palestine's event, Water, Health and Human Rights: Marking World Water Day from the US to Palestine. Eyewitness Palestine is a proud co-sponsor of this event, which will feature a keynote by Representative Rashida Tlaib as well as presentations by Jehad Abusalim of American Friends Services Committee--Chicago, Monica Lewis-Patrick of We the People Detroit, and more!
Next, be sure to check out this article about Palestine as a feminist issue by scholar-activist Nada Elia in Mondoweiss! Read the article here. And, if you haven't done so already, be sure to sign the pledge by the newly-formed Palestinian Feminist Collective affirming that Palestine is a Feminist Issue!
Palestine Cut from California Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum
Lastly, on March 18th, 2021, the California State Board of Education passed a Model Curriculum devoid of all reference to Palestine and some of the most basic frameworks of Ethnic Studies and Critical Race Studies. The current Model Curriculum is so antithetical to the spirit and principle of Ethnic Studies and Critical Race studies that the original drafters of the model curriculum asked for their names to be removed. Moreover, the current version was heavily criticized by luminaries such as Angela Davis, Cornel West, and Marc Lamont Hill.
Nevertheless, while this is a disappointing development, the fight continues: please visit https://savearabamericanstudies.org/ for the latest information.
