Thanks Ellie, for helping us avoid expecting too much, yet Deborah is former head of NC ACLU.    As a new member of Congress she may be starting off by going along to get along,  but considering the shift in some quarters of the US Jewish community, it still should be important  to make the pitch necessary for "new times" to arrive.   Certainly advocates for continued status quo would not have missed courting her as she ran for office, and the Price example may be taking its toll, but the op ed by John Brennan, former CIA chief suggests possibilities. Deb Ross' local office in Raleigh about Betty McCollum's bill--HR 2590.   And that I was disappointed that Ross was one of 300 members of Congress who were opposed to conditioning U.S. military aid to Israel.  She is considered by many people to be a progressive--so this may be another example of "progressive except for Palestine." While lamenting Brennan's NYT opinion shortcomings, Rarely if ever if in years past with the times I've covered an opinion like this – certainly not during the reign of Thomas Friedman. I hope Brennans opinion piece opens an avalanche of letters thst speak more grippingly of the plight of Palestinians under Israel's occupation/colonization.
