The "Israel right or wrong" crowd are actively steering opinion wherever they can,
intensifying their efforts after the Ben & Jerry's decision constituted a reality check
on Israel's Illegal actions regarding the OPT... the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
Rather than waiting until yet more newsrooms are fooled, if they're as susceptible
as ABC 11, I propose that our letter(s) and offer of interviews go to WRAL and
any other news organizations around, especially to the N&O's editorial board.
N&O and ABC 11 have had a sharing relationship, so that may explain their
silence and failure to run criticism of the smear of Duke/UNC and Rotary
International's Gaza conference.
N&O education reporter Kate Murphy's report after the Dept of Education Civil Rights division exonerated the University over accusations of Anti-Semitism, still took at face value a sarcastic remark about Anti-Semitism by a Palestinian singer... repeating the smear against the Gaza Conference's planners. This was probably in 2020. It is worth sharing any letter sent to the Editorial Board also with Murphy, via her kamurphy@newsobserver.com address.

Mark, what do you think of a VJP letter modified to go to the station leaders? Just a modified version of the letter you sent to UNC with a little more complaining that Kaplan was biased. I feel this will be have an impact.

I think it's worth a try, Steve et al. Steve, why not reach out to Mr. Kaplan and suggest he do a story on the Promised Land Museum with an interview with you? If he is interested, you might offer that he do an interview with Burhan and/or any of the board members to get an insight into VJP. All in the spirit of broadening his lens.
I agree. Steve's Museum link would show there is a whole other perspective on Israel-Palestine that this reporter is denying exists. The report was so blatantly biased and one-sided, I can't believe the station would call it "journalism." I did a little searching for an email address and came up with an approximation that may be:
jonahkaplan@abc11.com. If that's not a correct address, you'll know if it comes back as an "undelivered" response. Then we can look for another way.
